As an original Air Training Corps squadron, 95 (Crewe) Squadron is proud to have been providing new and exciting experiences for young people from all backgrounds in the area since 1938. Welcome to the second incarnation of the squadron website. Based on lessons learnt and suggestions following the release of the first version of the site, this site is intended to build on and improve the feel and functionality of our web presence.
Silver Duke of Edinburgh expedition
An account of a Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition by Cpl Jones.
Within Cadets I have participated in many activities. One of the activities I have taken part in is a expedition of the Duke of Edinburgh silver award. I thoroughly enjoyed participating within this activity as I met new cadets from various squadrons. The award had given me a lot of confidence and I feel like I had gotten to know the cadets better than what I knew them beforehand as we were sharing the same tent and eating together and spending two whole days within each others company.
Bron-y-gader account
Cadets recently enjoyed another stay at the Bron-y-gader outdoor persuits centre in North Wales. Here is an account by one of the cadets:
Bolesworth Show Jumping Classic
The squadron participates in many fundraising events in the community, The Bolesworth Show Jumping Classic is one such event. This is the first year that the squadron has assisted, but we hope that we will be invited back next year!
Squadron's 70th Birthday
The day the squadron is 70 years old. On the 24th March 1939, confirmation was recieved of the registration of 95 (Crewe) Squadron, Air Defence Cadet Corps.
95 Squadron RAF
I've been trying to find additional, comprehensive information on the RAF squadron we share out number designation with for some time. We have some snippets around the squadron, but not a lot substantial.
Squadron's 70th Birthday: Coming soon!
95 (Crewe) squadron will be 70 years old on the 23rd March 2009. Crewe cadets will be celebrating by eating jelly and icecream! :) For more information on how we will be celebrating in a serious manner keep an eye on our website!
Our very own Wing Band Master
With the end of 2008, the appointment of a new Wing Band Master was made, our very own Civilian Instructor Keith Goodall.
Success Celebrated at Mayors Parlour
Tuesday 2nd December saw the squadron awards evening for 2008 take place in the Mayors Parlour, part of the Municipal Buildings in Crewe. Cadets and parents alike enjoyed an evening of celebration as cadets received awards and certificates from their achievements during the year.
Exploding dog hits cadets
No - not quite a dog that explodes! Monday 20th October saw Flt Lt Kaufman give a presentation to cadets and staff, with the aid of a canine companion.
