95 Squadron RAF
I've been trying to find additional, comprehensive information on the RAF squadron we share out number designation with for some time. We have some snippets around the squadron, but not a lot substantial.
I was browsing around to see what I could find today and found 'RAF 95 Squadron in The Gambia' (http://www.95squadron.webs.com/index.html) - quite an interesting site dedicated to the squadron, with many photo's and memiors! Its well worth a look if your enjoy your history!
On 16 January 1941, a detachment of three Sunderlands from No. 210 Squadron at Pembroke Dock became No. 95 Squadron which flew its first boat out to Gibraltar early in February.
After flying patrols, the Squadron began to arrive at its base at Freetown, Sierra Leone to begin anti-submarine patrols over the South Atlantic.
In March 1943, No. 95 moved to Gambia, operating detachments from Sierra Leone, Dakar and Liberia for the rest of the war. On 30 June 1945, the Squadron disbanded.

Something I find a little amusing is that the squadron was established on 16 January 1941, three years after our establishment as an Air Defence Cadet Corps squadron!
