Silver Duke of Edinburgh expedition

An account of a Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition by Cpl Jones.

Within Cadets I have participated in many activities. One of the activities I have taken part in is a expedition of the Duke of Edinburgh silver award. I thoroughly enjoyed participating within this activity as I met new cadets from various squadrons. The award had given me a lot of confidence and I feel like I had gotten to know the cadets better than what I knew them beforehand as we were sharing the same tent and eating together and spending two whole days within each others company.
As you can imagine we had a few heated arguments during the weekend as we were getting stressed and had begun to lose our temper due to getting lost quite a lot throughout the day. However as we are friends we managed to de-stress ourselves by singing songs that raise our morale such as a song from the Disney video Lion King.
We finished our expedition later than we expected and were holding up the  other squadrons from going home however we did pass the expedition and now all the groups that went have to do is complete their service, physical activities and recreational activity before they can be awarded with their badge.
I feel that I have learnt a lot more about survival in the wild and that my communication and confidence skills have rose rapidly, I also get along better with the cadets and NCO's that participated in the award.
